A Change of Seasons

Posted on September 4, 2018 at 6:35 AM

Well, it's that time of year when we shift away from Summer vacations and start thinking about the Holidays and end of the year get togethers. Maybe you're even looking towards next year, making plans, and setting budgets and goals. In the Scottish Rite we start looking forward to our Fall Reunion, The feast of Tishri, Lodge of Sorrow, Nominations and Elections and the installation of next year's slate of officers.  It's a time of change for our Valley in many ways.

This year we have taken steps toward solidifying our position at Solar Lodge by offering to help with the building and grounds, maybe even buying the property to help releive some pressure for Solar and allow us to feel more at home. As Solar considers our offer, we will move forward with all our Fall activities and begin thinking about next year.

If you have not seen it yet, Bro. John Meyers has assembled an excellent newsletter with contributions from many of the officers in the Valley.  Please take the time to review it, and even consider adding to the next issue.  We're looking for your posts on community events both in and out of Masonry. We'd also like to know what is going on with our members.  Did you get married, have a child, complete a degree, send your last child off to the military or school? Tell us what is going on with you and your family and send along a picture to post with it.  Any other articles you'd like to add or see added is up to you.  This is your newsletter and we want to make it relevent to the whole fraternity.

Please make time to attend, or even better participate in, the reunion on September 15th.  Bring your family out to the Feast of Tishri on September 21st, and look out for other events we expect to hold between now and the end of the year. My goal for the coming year is to build a sense of community not only in Huntsville's Scottish Rite, but to bring all North Alabama Masonic bodies closer together as a community of Masons with Solar Lodge as a focal point for Masonic community activities. Lets take our individual Masonic organizations and create a tighter, more cohesive Masonic Family, together.
