Welcome to Summer! I hope you're enjoying the long days and getting outside with friends and family. This week is July 4th, traditionally a time deeply steeped in history for Masons. July 27 is Masonic Day at the Shrine. It's sure to be a good time with lots of activities for families. Most of the area Masonic groups will be in attendance. I hope you can join us.
Below is a draft rendering of the sign we are having made to replace the one on the corner of 6th and 9th. This one will be 4ft x 8ft, LED back lit and double sided. Other changes we have underway include replacing the AC system which will free up another office space, adding locks to cabinets in the kitchen so we can distribute some space out to resident bodies, and we're adding significant storage space in the dining hall and replacing/upgrading storage space in the Ante room off the lodge room. Lots of good stuff going on at the Masonic Center this summer.
I'm deeply saddened to report the passing of Illustrious Brother Mike Addams. He has been a constant presence at nearly every masonic body in Huntsville for over 50 years. His visitation and graveside service was very well attended by the community. We continue to pray for his family.
Our Fall reunion is set for October 19th and November 3rd. Brother Moises Gomez, Grand Historian for New Jersey, will attend and offer an in depth study of Masonry on the UK. We also have the Hillbilly Degree that will be put on as part of the reunion. It's sure to be a great couple of Saturdays. I hope you all can make it.
Finally, the Supreme Council has announced this year's nominations for Honors. Randy Grice and I have been nominated for 33° and expect to be advanced on September 21st, 10:00 am at Montgomery Scottish Rite. Michael Morgan, Johnny Strickland, Jason Crowe, and Kevin Burns have been nominated to receive 32° KCCH honors on October 26th at 9:00 am. I'd like to express my heartiest congratulations to all. It is most richly deserved, and thank you for all you do to make this valley successful.
